​William Howard Taft was the 27th president and would go on to serve as Chief Justice of the Supreme Court after his time in office. During his time in office he concentrated on domestic policy and growing the economy. His re-election bid was unsuccessful due to Theodore Roosevelt running as a third party challenger and splitting republican votes.
